Allergy

Allergy is a condition that is not very dangerous but can be very troublesome, making life difficult for those affected due to symptoms such as coughing, sneezing, nasal congestion, runny nose, shortness of breath, itchy eyes, and red, itchy skin rashes. The severity and frequency of allergic reactions appear to have increased steadily, especially over the past 30 years. This rise may be linked to increasing environmental pollution, such as PM2.5 particles that return to affect people in Thailand every year for several months, contamination of water and food sources, as well as hidden germs in living spaces, malls, offices, and shops, all of which can worsen allergy symptoms.

In reality, allergy symptoms are caused by white blood cells in our bodies trying to protect us from substances that come into contact with us by releasing chemicals to destroy these substances. However, sometimes the white blood cells react to harmless substances and release an excessive amount of these chemicals, causing inflammation in various organs, which leads to allergy symptoms. The chemical most commonly released is histamine. Antihistamine medications work by suppressing the release of histamine, so when we take allergy medicine, our symptoms improve because the white blood cells cannot release histamine.

The True Cause of Allergy

It can be seen that the true cause of allergies comes from the malfunctioning of white blood cells. These cells become overactive and try to eliminate things that are not actually harmful to us. (Interestingly, when we are infected with real dangerous enemies like pathogens, sometimes the white blood cells do not respond adequately. In other words, white blood cells perform actions they shouldn’t and neglect their true role.) Therefore, if we can adjust the function of white blood cells to return to normal, it can help reduce allergy symptoms.

What are the causes that make our white blood cells malfunction?

Genetics – Some patients have a genetic predisposition to allergic conditions, mostly inherited from their parents and can be passed on to their children. These people often have allergies from childhood, which can start as early as infancy. Some may have symptoms throughout their lives, but if fortunate, symptoms may lessen by the time they reach working age.

Toxins – Various pollutants nowadays cause our cells to malfunction. Toxins don’t appear visibly but are hidden in our environment and daily lives, such as heavy metals, air pollution, vehicle exhaust, industrial smoke, PM2.5, industrial chemicals, agricultural chemicals, pesticides, fungicides, chemical fertilizers, plastics, microplastics, contaminated medical chemicals in water sources, and common toxins we regularly face like alcohol, tobacco, and drugs. All these can disrupt the normal function of our cells unknowingly. The accumulation of toxins takes many years. While toxin levels are still low, we may show no symptoms. But remember, toxin accumulation starts even before birth. Our bodies begin accumulating toxins while still in the womb. If the mother is exposed to toxins, some can pass through the placenta to the fetus, such as heavy metals like mercury. In developed countries, pregnant women are advised to avoid certain fish species because they may contain mercury, which can be transferred to the fetus.

Gut inflammation and gut microbiota – Numerous studies indicate that gut health is directly linked to immune system function. When the gut is inflamed, it triggers immune dysregulation. Causes of gut inflammation vary, but commonly involve an imbalance in gut microbiota, which can result from either too few or too many microbes.

Hidden food allergies – Sometimes allergic reactions are not obvious. Hidden food allergies are a problem many patients are unaware of. When consuming these trigger foods, silent gut inflammation occurs without pain. Chronic inflammation weakens or breaks down the gut lining, leading to a condition called “Leaky Gut,” where gaps form in the intestinal lining. Foreign substances can then pass through these gaps into the bloodstream, causing allergy-like symptoms. This inflammation further triggers immune dysregulation and reduces beneficial gut bacteria, disrupting gut balance long-term.

Nutritional deficiencies – Essential nutrients are not only carbohydrates, proteins, and fats but also many vitamins and minerals. According to WHO, modern diets are high in calories but low in vitamins and minerals. This means we consume plenty of energy but lack essential micronutrients, resulting in weight gain and obesity while actually being malnourished—a condition called “Hidden Hunger.” Among vitamins, Vitamin D3 is particularly crucial in regulating white blood cell function. Statistics show that 50-70% of Thai people have a Vitamin D3 deficiency (depending on region).

Hormonal deficiency – Many people have healthy childhoods but start experiencing allergies as they age, especially during hormonal changes like at age 30-40 or menopause. Hormonal fluctuations affect immune function. High estrogen and low progesterone levels often worsen allergies. Thyroid disorders can also trigger allergic symptoms, and imbalanced stress hormones (cortisol) may exacerbate allergies.

Stress and lack of rest – Actually, foreign substances entering the body cause physical stress, stimulating white blood cells. Thus, psychological stress can also increase white blood cell activity. Hidden physical stress—such as staying up late watching TV shows, skipping breakfast, or having unnoticed dental problems—may not feel mentally stressful but puts physical strain on the body, worsening allergies. Poor sleep quality and irregular sleep schedules disrupt the body clock and exacerbate allergic conditions.

Certain pathogens – Our living and working environments are not perfectly clean and often harbor fungi or bacteria in damp corners or old furniture. Fungi can cause chronic allergies and are linked to autoimmune allergies and chronic inflammatory bowel disease.

Allergies are caused by multiple factors working together. Treating and controlling allergies should use an integrative medical approach that addresses many causes simultaneously. Taking antihistamines only treats symptoms temporarily.

If you have been treating allergies with medication but never checked the underlying causes, what tests can be done?

  • OligoScan – Measures heavy metals and minerals in tissues by light spectroscopy. It detects levels of various heavy metals and minerals.
(Include specific details from your website or Facebook content on OligoScan)

  • Urine Organic Toxicology – Detects biochemical molecules and chemical toxins from urine. Some toxins like pesticides or plastics cannot yet be tested in blood or tissues, but since the body attempts to excrete toxins, diluted toxins can sometimes be found in urine, especially in those with heavy toxin accumulation.

  • Food IgG Sensitivity Test – Detects hidden food allergies to help plan a diet that avoids foods causing gut inflammation.

  • GI Effect Test – Advanced stool analysis assessing digestive health, nutrient absorption, gut lining integrity, inflammation levels, and gut microbiota types and amounts, including bacterial, fungal, and protozoal infections, using genetic detection methods for high accuracy.

  • Vitamin D Level Test – Measures Vitamin D, essential for regulating white blood cell function.

  • MicroNutrient Profile – Measures blood levels of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants, helping identify deficiencies or excesses to guide proper supplementation.

  • Hormone Level Test – Measures various hormones like cortisol (stress hormone), DHEA (anti-stress hormone), sex hormones (estradiol, progesterone, testosterone), thyroid hormones (TSH, Free T3, Free T4), and autoimmune thyroid markers (Anti-TG, Anti-TPO). If imbalances are found, doctors can plan hormone adjustments or prescribe bioidentical hormone replacements to restore immune balance.

Simple detox methods you can do:

    • Colon Hydrotherapy (Closed system) – A safe, closed system colon irrigation using purified water with controlled pressure and temperature to maximize effectiveness. Cleanses the colon up to the appendix, reduces toxins, waste deposits, and harmful gut microbes.

    • IV Detoxification – Intravenous nutrient therapy customized by health nutrition specialists to safely remove toxins from every cell, increase vitamins and antioxidants, reduce whole-body inflammation, and normalize immune function.

    • Oral Chelation – Detox using oral supplements, suitable for those who avoid IV therapy or needles. A slow, safe method that requires consistent long-term supplement use as advised by a doctor.

    • SuperSynbiotic – Supplements live beneficial microbes along with their food to help them survive in the gut and break down excess toxins or chemicals. (Requires live, active microbes, not dried or powdered forms.)
